Many different types of pests can be killed by fumigation, including termites, ants and beetles and other noxious insects, as well as mice, rats and birds. Fumigation is used for control of pests in buildings, soil, grain and produce, but any use of a lethal gas is potentially dangerous, so all states require that fumigation be performed by a licensed fumigator or applicator who is knowledgeable about that specific type of fumigation. Most states require licensed fumigators to have significant experience in the pest control industry.
